Sleep problems are very common and affect people in different ways. There isn’t a ‘right’ amount of sleep as everyone is different, some people need a bit more and others need a bit less. The most common types of sleep problems are:
Problems getting off to sleep: this is the most common type. It can take some people several hours to drop off.
Problems staying asleep: some people get off to sleep easy enough, but find they wake through the night and have difficulty getting back off to sleep.
Waking too early: waking earlier than is preferred and having difficulty getting back off to sleep.
Poor quality sleep: Sleeping lightly with restless, disturbed and inconsistent sleep.
