All children have their ups and downs and go through a range of thoughts, feelings and experiences as they grow up, for example:

  • Dealing with the death of someone they care about.
  • Sitting exams.
  • Having arguments with friends.

For most children, they are able to manage, with backup from friends and family. However, some children find it difficult to cope and can become overwhelmed by their feelings. Without help their mental health can suffer. This is often expressed through unusual or difficult behaviour.
