Eating
Eating Disorders are serious conditions which can be potentially life-threatening. They consist of complex symptoms centred around food, body weight, body shape, and low self-esteem.
Eating disorders affect people of all ages but are more common in young women - however, boys, men, and older women can suffer too. Women suffer from these disorders 10 times as often as men and they most often start in the teenage years. The most commonly recognised disorders are bulimia, anorexia and compulsive overeating, but people often have a variety of combinations of symptoms.
These symptoms can include:
- Worrying more and more about your weight, eating less and less or binge eating.
- Make yourself vomit to get rid of calories, using laxatives, over-exercise, can’t stop losing weight.
- Irregular menstrual periods, tiredness, guilt.
